Bismarck Mandan Elks along with other North Dakota Elks Lodges own and operate Camp Grassick which is part of far-reaching activities in the field of child welfare. The camp focuses on children and adults with various disabilities and special needs, six different camping sessions during the summer focus on different needs – therapy for children between the ages of 7-15, social interaction with peers, adults with disabilities and the blind and visually impaired.
Nestled on the sunny south shore of Lake Isabel, Camp Grassick is located five miles south of Dawson, mid-way between Jamestown and Bismarck, ND. Camp facilities include an infirmary, therapy buildings, large kitchen and dining hall, craft shop, recreation hall, office, cabins for the children and staff, showers, toilets, shop, laundry, and a superintendent’s residence.
In addition to our State Project the Bismarck Mandan Elks 1199 also gives locally through our Social and Community Welfare Committee. The importance of community and children is a large focus of giving and something Elks 1199 hold close to our hearts. Our Lodge gives time and financial support to youth through our “Lodge Youth Activities” by offering activities such as Elks Hoop Shoot, Drug Awareness, Kids Christmas Party, Band Day Parade, Zoo Boo, College Scholarships and many other youth building activities. Last year the Bismarck Mandan Elks Lodge gave over $100,000.00 to local Charities, $12,000.00 to our Scholarship program, this includes Camp Grassick.

In order for our Lodge to support all the great things above we not only count on our Member’s financial support and Lodge usage but also their volunteerism. Come to the Elks have fun with friends and family and be a part of something a little greater. Support these great events throughout year to make our charitable giving possible from McQuade’s Charity Softball Tournament burger and beer stand, Charity Golf Tournament, Lodge gaming from pull tabs, black jack, bingo and the largest annual event our Elks 1199 Charity Raffle.
